Glass Incense Holder III

£48.33

Made in Japan

We are pleased to add a unique collection of handmade glass incense holders with a matching plate by Minami Ikeya, a Japanese glass artist.

A cut sheet of glass is placed on a mould made of plaster and heated in an electric kiln, causing the glass to deform and form along the plaster mould. This process of bending the glass is an important point in the production process, and it is also a difficult process that relies on experience and intuition. Ikeya originally studied glass at an art university. Although she had some experience with glass blowing, the intense process didn't suit her and she honed her skills mainly through kiln work. Often get inspiration from old found things that Ikeya wants to create pieces that feels nostalgic yet modern.
