"I had this cube-shaped block of wood with a round hole in the middle sitting on my studio shelf for quite some time. One day, I decided to carve the cube into a spherical form, then I entertained with the idea to make the round hole into a square. Instead, I added layers of urushi lacquer. Using the hole, the piece can be hang on a wall." Maiko Tsutsumi
