Small baby blanket made with soft, laundered linen, hand dyed, appliquéd, quilted and backed with the same fabric, all process done by hand with strong cotton thread. Lined with 100% cotton batting.
Heirloom baby quilts made to fit Moses basket. We have specifically asked Tessa to make a blanket that can then be used as a play mat as baby grows.
Tessa Layzelle started quilting around the arrival of her first child. Having a background in Fine Art, she took inspiration from women artists like Sonia Delaunay who made a beautiful abstract quilt for her baby, Barbara Hepworth who made largest work after having triplets and a quilt makers of Alabama’s Gee’s Bend.
Mixing traditional hand quilting techniques and painting, quilt making for her is an intriguing means for attempting to answer questions of abstraction, pattern and composition with the outcome being both artwork and object, it’s practice being inherently sustainable.

Care: Hand wash cool, or machine wash occasionally on gentlest setting, dry flat.
