A shoulder basket made by craftspeople in Xavante communities in the Amazon. The domed lightweight design features a hinged lid, braided shoulder strap and tie close. A hard wearing and beautiful piece of traditional craft that can also be used as a storage basket or wall hanging.
Woven from wild buriti palm leaf and twine, pieces like these have been made by Xavante people for generations, often used to carry personal belongings on long journeys. This piece in particular is from from Aldeia Indígena Caçula of northern Mato Grosso state.
Size Varies quite a bit, but approx. M: H26-28cm W34-38cm and S: H18-20cm W24cm
