Mittan Sashiko Blanket - Cocoa

£190.00

Made in Japan

Led by designer Takeshi Mitani, Mittan makes "modern folk clothing" based on histories of clothes and fabrics from the world. By reinterpreting the two-dimensional structure and combining it with the functionality of natural materials, Mittan aims to create long-lasting clothes that are not bound by the transient trends of the times. They work very closely with the manufactures and often develop original fabrics.

These blankets are made from an original triple-layered fabric using cotton for the warp, with two types of wool and silk with different textures and different weft on the front, middle, and back sides. The wool on the surface is woven thin and densely to increase heat retention. The noil silk on the back absorbs moisture well and feels soft on the skin. The reason why the inner surface feels fluffy is because single yarns of spongy wool are not woven together with the warp yarns, allowing the yarns to swell to their fullest. The sashiko part is woven using spun noil silk thread.

As a blanket or sofa cover, you will enjoy its texture and softness with use.

Size:
Small Approx. 150 x 95cm

Material Composition:
Wool 50% Silk 25% Cotton 25%

Care instructions:
This material is prone to dimensional changes due to washing. When washing, please use a neutral detergent and hand wash in lukewarm water at 30℃, or use wool or silk cycle on washing machine. If you stretch it out enough and dry it, it will return to its original dimensions. No Tumble dryer as it will make wool inside to shrink.
Do not pull the fuzz that comes out during use, but cut them instead.
