Made in the UK
A collection of hand-woven pieces by British weaver Sarah Holt based in Hastings. They are made with natural fibres like linen, cotton, silk and found materials such as vintage linen.
Sarah studied Textiles at Goldsmiths College, London and started her weaving journey seven years ago. Sarah weaves on a two shaft floor loom and an eight shaft table loom. The process of setting up the warp on the loom is slow, each thread is passed through the eye of a heddle and wound on the beam. Sarah then begins to create the fabric with the weft threads passing over and under the warp; "this is a rewarding and magical process" Sarah says.
Sarah takes inspiration from her surroundings and journeys, photographing, sketching and collecting foraged items that have been forgotten or dismissed. These pieces have been produced to reflect the interesting textures and patina she finds on aged walls, drift wood, and weathered boats close to where she lives. The resulting pieces are the beautiful imperfection of cloth, something simple, intricate and longing to be touched and to be treasured in the home.
